| Sport Announcement |
All students entering 7th-10th grade that are planning on playing on a HSA Athletic teams need to have this physical form filled out and turned into the school office by August 23rd.
Teams include: volleyball, basketball, and track and field

We are also looking for girls entering grades 7th-10th that would be interested in participating on the schools middle school and high school volleyball teams. Tentative try-outs planned for the ended of July. We are also looking for coaches for these teams.

| $200,000 GRANT FOR OUR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL RECESS AREA |
Lamar Bruni Vergara Trust has donated $200,000 to our school for our middle and high school recess area outside. We are going to use that money to build a soccer field and a basketball court and it is going to be shaded as well so that our students can utilize the recess area anytime. We would like to thank Mrs. Hinojosa, Mrs. Michelle Raymond and Mr. Renato Ramirez for their unlimited support during the grant application. The soccer field and basketball court will be ready for the next school year. Also we are going to use the money to build a shade for the elementary playground.

| HARMONY CHESS EXTRAVAGANZA WITH GM SUSAN POLGAR |
Harmony Science Academy has organized a very exciting chess tournament on May 29-30. Our distinguished guest was Grand Master Susan Polgar, 4 time Women’s World Champion, 5 time Olympic Gold medalist. We have organized 3 different competitions in the tournament, USCF rated open, non-rated and Simultenous. Laredo Chess Club helped us to run the tournament. There were $300 cash prize for the rated open tournament. We have given out many gift cards, schlitterbahn season tickets and event t-shirts. We would like to thank Laredo Chess Club, Mr. Wright, Mr. Valadez, Mr. Santos, Mrs. Peterson, Mrs. Valero, Mrs. Valadez for their hard work throughout the tournament. Also we would like to thank our main sponsor, Tokyo Garden (Del Mar) and other sponsors to make this event happenned for the first time for its kind. We believe that our students learned a lot about chess and got a lot of inspiration to advance in chess. We would like to organize Harmony Chess Extravaganza again next year.

| 5TH GRADE GRADUATION CEREMONY |
We had our 5th grade graduation ceremony on May 27 in our school cafeteria. We had wonderful joy with students and parents when we saw our 5th graders getting their diplomas. Our 5th graders studied very hard and got very good scores from the State tests. After the ceremony, we had a small party and dinner for them. We would like to congratulate our 5th grade students, wish good luck in the middle school life and looking forward to seeing their success in the middle school.

| 8TH GRADE GRADUATION |
We had our 8th grade gradution on May 27 in our school cafeteria. Our 8th grade students have received their diploma. It was a big pleasure to see them in cap and gown. Many parents and students shared the good moments with us. We would like to congratulate our 8th grade students and wish good luck in their high school life.

| END OF YEAR AWARD CEREMONY |
We had our end of year award ceremony on May 26, Wednesday. We have rewarded many students for their accomplishment throughout the year. We have rewarded all A's students, AB's students, Robotics Team and more for their high level success during the year. Even though it is our second year, we have got many medals, trophies and ranks from Science Fair Competitions, Science Olympiad, Robotics Competitions, MathCounts, Basketball, Chess Tournaments and Folk Dance. We would like to congratulate our students who participated in any activity during the year. We would like to thank especially our teachers for their hard work and without our dedicated teachers, we couldn’t have seen those accomplishments. We wish all parents and students to have a wonderful summer and come back with full of motivation and excitement for the next school year.
